AUTHORS GLASS ART – A DYNAMIC KIND OF CONTEMPORARY ART
It is impossible to imagine our way of life, housing interior or public place without any artistically processed glass today. People invented glass long ago, put it into service, and for centuries improve its manufacturing technology, artistically enrich its forms and expand the product line.
In some countries, such as Italy, Sweden and the Czech Republic, glass manufacturing has become one of the determining factors of national identity. Glass as a "window on the world" –this way one may denote the historical and artistic mission of this material. The emergence of three-dimensional glass form as an object of artistic transmission and a means of emotional impact, has become an important reformative step in the development of the global glass and art of the XX century in general.
During the second half of the XX century, the principles of understanding of glass art in the broad context of fine art were laid down and developed. The artists resorted to the language of related arts in glass - sculpture, painting, graphics. Since the late 1960s, glass art evolves as an independent genre. Plastic objects, new types of three-dimensional monumental forms in the synthesis with architecture appear.
International movement of studio glass, which began to spread globally in the late 1960s - early 1970s thanks to such figures as Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino, was a key chapter in the recent history of glass art. Studio glass movement caused the emergence of a new concept in contemporary art - fine glass, which in recent decades has formed new artistic values and has become a yearned-after artifact. Authors’ works of the pioneers of studio movement generated basic criteria of valorization of the artistic value of author’s glass and has become the basis of public and private collections worldwide. "Revolution", which took place several decades ago in the United States, is now recognized a key event in the history of art and culture.

GLASS MUSEUM IN LVIV
There are only few museums in the world having the art glass of so famous artists as Erwin Eisch and Theodor Sellner, Marvin Lipofsky, Stephen Rolfe Powell and Michael Rogers, Yan Zoritchak, Edward Leibovitz, Jiri Suhajek and many others. But none of the museums despose the collection of glass created during artistic forums at the same place.
